The town historical society’s viral listicle, “Ten Simple Values We’ve Lost,” raised $340 at Saturday’s bake sale for the Main Street Preservation Committee — the same committee that, per its own minutes, has not held a meeting in fourteen months pending formation of a sub-subcommittee to determine its meeting cadence.

The listicle’s centerpiece, a “colorized” photo of a wholesome 1950s Main Street, was confirmed this week to have been generated rather than restored. The historical society published it anyway, noting in a statement that “the warmth was accurate even if the photograph, technically, was not.”
